Hi, We're in the thick of the holiday season, and I wanted to take a minute to say hi and connect on a more personal note. I somehow managed to finish my shopping in time this year (we kept things light), and I also wrapped up refurbishing a rocking chair for my young daughter. It was a fun creative project that felt grounding and surprisingly meaningful (I’m hoping she loves it). We're set to get a ton of rain in San Diego, which will make Christmas feel a little more, well, Christmas-y, here in Southern California. I’ve watched a few favorite holiday movies already and am hoping to squeeze in one more before the season slips away. Even though the season has gone well, I’m tired. And I don’t think I’m alone. This season has a way of leaving us feeling both accomplished and exhausted after trying to “do it all.” It’s tempting to go above and beyond, to outdo ourselves, to make everything feel just right. It’s felt like a fine balance between showing up thoughtfully for others and keeping some of the season’s spirit alive within myself. Tonight, that looks like a hot bath, a good magazine, and an early bedtime. Is there something small you can do for yourself tonight, tomorrow, or this week? Something just as thoughtful as the energy you’ve been giving to everyone else? I hope so. And if you do, I’d genuinely love to hear what it was. Warmly wishing you happy holidays, Layla |
